Starting next year
Lincolnshire will introduce weekly food waste collections as part of the Government’s Environment Act 2021, in a move that is expected to boost the county's recycling rate by up to 7 per cent.
Ahead of food waste collections starting, all households will get:
• An outdoor food waste caddy
• A smaller indoor kitchen caddy
• An initial roll of liners
• A welcome pack
Instead of being burned with general waste, your food waste will be sent to a local anaerobic digestion plant. There, it'll be transformed into renewable energy to power homes and businesses, and nutrient-rich fertiliser to support local farming — creating a closed-loop system that benefits everyone.
Did you know? Recycling just one banana skin can generate enough energy to charge your phone twice!
