Weekly food waste collections coming in 2026
Lincolnshire County Council are working with district and borough councils through the Lincolnshire Waste Partnership to roll out food waste collections in phases from March 2026. Households will receive two lockable caddies: a 5-litre indoor and a 23-litre outdoor version, designed to save space, minimise odours and keep pests at bay.
Food waste will be collected weekly using dedicated vehicles and, instead of being taken to the Energy from Waste plant, will instead be taken to an anaerobic digestion facility, where it will be turned into biogas and fertiliser.
Even if you compost, you can use your caddy for items like meat, dairy, tea bags, and plate scrapings.
