Banking services in Gainsborough and across West Lindsey.
Earlier this year, LINK reviewed Gainsborough’s banking facilities following a motion put forward by councillors for a Banking Hub in the town after Halifax announced the closure of their Lord Street branch in January 2025.
While the town was deemed above the threshold for a new banking hub, the review has helped shine a light on the valuable services already available across the district.
Gainsborough continues to host three high street banks in the town centre: Nationwide, Yorkshire Building Society and TSB. In addition, Gainsborough Library offers drop-in sessions with community bankers from Barclays (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) and Halifax (fortnightly on Fridays), providing support with non-cash services such as account queries, bereavement services, online banking help and power of attorney registration.
The town’s Post Office offers banking services for over 30 banks, including cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, and business banking.
